It started with two Velcro watchbands and a pair of flip-flops. In 1984, a Grand Canyon river guide named Mark Thatcher needed a sandal that could handle the water without floating away downstream, so he built one. That act of pure necessity created an entirely new category of footwear and gave the world Teva. Four decades on, the brand that invented the adventure sandal is still at it, with quick-dry webbing, grippy rubber outsoles and cushioned footbeds built for rivers, trails, beaches and everything in between.
